The Moderate Conservative President

The Moderate Conservative President

I am the President of the United States.

I believe America is the greatest nation ever conceived by man and stand true to its original tenets of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

I will “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”

I believe America has the power and ability to control and shape international events, and the moral obligation to do so. “In the long history of the world only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom from its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility – I welcome it.”

I adhere to the basic values of the Republic as laid out by our founding fathers - the freedom of the individual, the value and quality of life and the importance of an equal opportunity to pursue prosperity. I understand Thomas Jefferson when he said "that government governs best that governs least," and I sought to provide a government of quality of ideas and leadership rather than quantity of bureaucracy and spending.

I believe in the rights of the individual and his right for freedom and liberty. I believe in personal responsibility for Americans. "Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men." (3)

I believe in less taxation for our citizens and dramatically cut federal income taxes the moment I took office. This led to an unprecedented economic expansion for our country. (2)

I have a deeply religious faith; believe in Jesus Christ and the sacraments of the Church.

I believe people should be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin as spoken so beautifully by Dr. Martin Luther King. "I don't think we can undo the past. In fact, the past is going to be with us for a good many years in uneducated men and women who lost their chance for a decent education. We have to do the best we can now. That is what we are trying to do. I don't think quotas are a good idea. I think it is a mistake to begin to assign quotas on the basis of religion or race — color — nationality…”

I advocate press self-censorship of highly classified and secret information for the security and good of our Nation and that news should be responsibly managed in the interest of national security. I have been highly criticized by the media for these views. (1)

I regret that in recent history nations have been lost to totalitarian regimes most notably China and I denounce the administrations of that day underestimating the threat and losing China to Communism.

"What our young men had saved, our diplomats and our President have frittered away"

I recognized that the Soviet Union was a threat and needed to be bested and not appeased.

I lament our nations misguided underestimation of the true evils of Communism and supported Senator Joe McCarthy fully, “how dare you couple the name of a great American patriot with that of a traitor?” I made McCarthy Godfather to my first born child. Senator McCarthy is totally vindicated with the 1995 release of the Verona project in which over 300 Soviet spies were proven to be working in the U.S. State department.

I believe Communism should be defeated wherever it thrives and support the removal or assassination of Fidel Castro. We need a better, unconventional counterinsurgency capability in order to prevent future Castros from obtaining power in the first place. Thus we support Latin American governments, even those too far to the right with techniques for crushing leftist opposition. (1)

“the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe--the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God."

“We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution.”

I wish America to resume its old mission as the first nation dedicated to the revolution of human rights. With the Alliance for Progress and the Peace Corps, I brought American idealism to the aid of developing nations. But the hard reality of Communism remains.

My voting record defines me by today's standards as a moderate conservative and not a liberal.

I am the President of the United States.

I am President John F. Kennedy.
